James Tiberius Kirk Gryffin is the father of Pixie and Taylor.
Personality[]
James is a caring penguin who loves his family dearly. He is a very adventurous outdoorsman who enjoys spending his free time camping, hiking and exploring in the wilderness around Icely. He despises fishing as he believes that it is incredibly boring.
He used to love pizza but is now afraid of it after being killed by it.
History[]
Born from the unholy union of a dimension hopping wizard and a detective with a sasquatch obsession, James grew up on Icely with his father, having never met his other parent, as they dissapeared immediately after he was born.
His father was a survivalist who taught him many useful skills related to wilderness survival, detectiving, and cryptid hunting.
When he was 14, he began to develop magical powers, but chose to hide them from his father as he often talked poorly of mages, and he feared that he would be thrown out of the house if he was found out.
He first met his wife at Icely's annual Frostbite Fair, where she was giving a cooking demonstration, and he developed an instant crush on her.
However they wouldn't begin dating until two years later when they met again while both penguins were attending CPU. They finally got married after 4 years, and later had two children, Pixie and Taylor.
Death and Accidental Resurrection[]
James loved pizza and he and and his family often went out to eat at Icely's local pizza restaurant. That was, until an unfortunate day in 2014, when he contracted a severe case of food poisoning from his personal pizza, which later lead to his untimely death. The employee responsible for the incident was later fired, after complaints from his family.
In 2022, the Gryffin family held a séance on Halloween night to communicate with him. While they were distracted, an unsupervised Zelda wandered off and began playing with the Confettitron 3000 in the other room and he was accidentally resurrected.
As James has been legally dead for over 8 years, he is unable to hold a job as per Icely law, and as such, he has decided to take up an early retirement.
Relationship With Stompin' Bob[]
After returning from the dead, James attempted to rekindle his relationship with his wife, but things were rocky between the two as she had already moved on during the time while he was dead. He took to drowning his sorrows at the coffee shop, where he met Stompin' Bob. The two bonded over their mutual love for rock music and soon began to develop feelings for one another and began secretly hooking up.
Trivia[]
- He has severe astigmatism and needs to wear glasses to see anything more than half an inch from his face. Despite this he constantly manages to misplace his glasses.
- His legal name comes from Star Trek, which was his father, who was very bad at naming things', favorite show.
